Mutton Curry Recipe(Mutton Masala Curry)
Mutton curry Recipe is also known as Mutton Masala Curry is a delicious Indian curried dish of soft tender chunks of meat in a spicy Onion and Tomato gravy.
This post will help you make a simple & good mutton curry with basic ingredients and simple steps.
Mutton Curry is a one pot dish where mutton is marinated and cooked with plenty of spices, herbs, onions, tomatoes. It is basically a curried dish popular in Indian Sub- continent.
How to make Mutton Curry
(stepwise with photos)
Ingredients:
a. 1/2 kg Mutton
- b. 1 cup of chopped Onions
- c. chopped Tomato
- d. 1to 2 green chilies slit
- e. 1 sprig curry leaves
- f. 1 bay leaf, 2 cloves, 2cardamoms(Elachi’s), 2 cinnamon sticks, little stone
- g. turmeric powder
Make the Mutton Curry
1. Heat the heavy bottom pot or pressure cooker with 2 tablespoons oil. Add all the spicey items like 2 cloves, 1 bay leaf, little stone flower, 2 cinnamon sticks ,2 cardamoms, curry leaves, and green chili. Mix it well
2. Now, Add the onions and Saute until the onions turn to golden color. Next add the chopped tomatoes now, mix it well and cook it till the tomatoes gets smooth.
3. Add the mutton into the pot, mix it well and cover the lid & saute for 5 to 7 mins release moisture.
4. Add turmeric powder and ginger garlic paste , add red chili powder as per your tasty.
5. Mix it well and keep it in simmer for 2 mins.
6. Add the water to get the desired consistency, add coriander powder, coconut powder and salt as per your taste. Mix every thing well.
7. Cover and cook on a medium heat for 1 hour. Keep stirring every 15 to 20 mins and add more hot water as required.
8. Mix well , if your curry is too thick .Turn off the flame once and rest for at least 15 to 20 mins before serving. The gravy will thicken a bit after cooling so turn off accordingly. Once taste test and add more salt.
9. Serve Mutton Masala Curry with plain steamed rice ,Chapati, Tandoori Roti or Naan. Enjoy with spicy recipe.
